Internationally renowned artist Marcus Debie, better known by his artist name GOMAD, has created an impressive new mural at the Delmenhorst Business Campus on Annenheider Straße in collaboration with artist James Jetlag and the art consultancy firm KUNST RAUM KONZEPTE Dirk Monreal. The ceremonial unveiling of the artwork took place on Friday, September 6, 2024, in the presence of the artist. The artwork, titled “Woven Stories,” is the largest mural in Delmenhorst and explores the city’s rich history of the textile industry as well as the role of women in this sector.

The “Woven Stories” mural depicts, among other things, a woman’s face representing women in the textile industry, as well as a coat reminiscent of that era. Further references to the city of Delmenhorst include the depiction of a familiar hibiscus flower and the dominant colors of blue and green, which are inspired by the city’s logo. The Delmenhorst Business Campus is depicted in abstract form and as building silhouettes from a bird’s-eye view. The interlocking hands symbolize collaboration and craftsmanship, as well as the interconnection of work processes. This impressive artwork is yet another example of Marcus Debie’s ability to weave details into a larger overall picture and achieve a striking visual impact.

Marcus Debie, born in 1971 and colorblind, has made a name for himself through his unique style, which combines photorealistic elements with abstract graphic forms and colorful surfaces. His style, also known as “Post-Neocubism,” is strongly reminiscent of Picasso’s Cubist forms and demonstrates Debie’s exceptional eye for detail.

The artwork makes a significant contribution to the cultural and aesthetic enhancement of the DLH commercial campus. Art in public spaces increases the location’s appeal. Furthermore, it references the city and highlights the forward-looking and innovative development of DLH as a company and employer. The business campus opened on June 6, 2024, and offers space for various commercial and light industrial solutions. Murals like the one by GOMAD make the Delmenhorst business campus an even more attractive location, positioning the company as a pioneer.

“We are delighted that we were able to realize this impressive work of art at the Delmenhorst Commercial Campus. With its excellent location, many people pass by this project every day and can enjoy it. It also further enhances the value of the commercial campus itself,” explain Simon Rickers and Sven Mester of DLH.

“Of the total 33,000 m², 8,400 m² are still available for lease. I am convinced that future tenants of these spaces will also appreciate the artwork,” adds Malte Seemann of Robert C. Spies, who is responsible for leasing.
